I know this is the oldest question a web pornographer can ask, but I need advice. I’ve built FantasticForeskin.com and I’m very proud of the site. I update the site weekly and I have a good tour and some great affiliates. I’ve got some good and some sensational reviews (Gaydemon.com brings me a few new members every week.)
The memberships are coming in. But I want more. The site has been up for two months, and I feel like its in a decent place, but I don’t want to be complacent.
So school me. How do I get more sign ups. I know I need more affiliate updates.
I’m planning more affiliate mailings and a blog make-over. I’m doing more banners next week. I have a small ad in Cybersocket.
But what else?
Advertising?
More blogging?
What else?
My ears are open and my heart is filled with appreciation in advance!
One things to remember, and I learned this once I became a blogger, too… the main focus of many guy’s blogs isn’t just the porn. Gay Daily Hot is more about me and my life, John and his life and our work… but we talk about our friend’s porn sites a lot, too. That said, we have a lot of friends and when I get 20 affiliate newsletters every few days, I seldom bother going to anyone’s site to get content. I just use what’s been given to me in the easiest format.
So sending your updates often, providing them with their own unique link… those things go MILES to get your site some attention.
I agree with the points Jasun and Michael make about the importance of the affiliate emails. One other strategy you could try to get more members is to try to get more affiliates, by going to those blogs that you like that aren’t already affiliates, and letting them know about Fantastic Foreskin and inviting them to sign up.
All great advice. Sounds like the consensus is MORE AFFILIATE EMAILS. I’m getting the message. I’ll put that at the top of my priority list.
I’m also putting some more work into my blog at FantasticForeskin.com/blog
Thanks for all the great advice. I really appreciate all of you!
You say you update every week, but I haven’t seen a single update from May or June 2011 on the site.
All I get from the tour is March 2011, 6 updates from that month and that’s what most of the surfers must be looking at too.
If you did infact made 8 updates in last two months why not showcase them? I am sure this might also be one of the big reasons why more people aren’t joining daily.
I agree with aniehoff here, from a surfer’s point of view, you site looks like it’s suffering from updatitis.
Just another thing, you have three link list links on your warning page. Some affiliates aren’t going to appreciate that. Some won’t like sending traffic if there’s a chance that they’ll lose it to one of those links. As far as I’m concerned it’s a small thing, but affiliates do like to bitch. You don’t need those links on your warning page, those affiliates will promote you whether you have a link or not.
You might want to put some pictures in your blog, it’s just text.
A lot of your site’s pages don’t have any title tags, the one for “the guys” doesn’t have a title at all. All of your pages should have a unique title. Your homepage doesn’t even mention uncut cock in the title. Fix that up, it’ll certainly help you get better traffic from search engines, which will translate into sales.
I agree with all of the above. But I would add that if you update twice a week, send out that email twice a week. I don’t know about others, but I have traffic spikes from Friday through to Sun, so making sure you send out an email on the Thursday will help I think.
As said, one of the first things I look at when I’m reviewing a site or considering a membership myself, is the frequency of the updates. If you’re not showing the latest content, with dates, guys don’t know that you’ve updated since the stamp on your featured content.
Personally, I would prioritize the most recent over the most viewed, but add the most watched content to another page. You definitely want to offer visitors a preview of what most other guys are enjoying.
Just a ‘plus one’, but I promote sites for two reasons - the first reason is if it sells insanely well, the second is if they send me a weekly (at least) email with links to new content. As yours (to me) is an unknown quantity it wouldn’t fall into wither of the above categories at present.
This might be a bad suggestion (and if anyone thinks so, please chime in… my feelings won’t be hurt), but what about a Google adwords campaign with the keywords “foreskin, gay and porn”?
PS: Kudos for using the old “Fantastic Four” font you geek you!
Hey Robert. We’ve kinda talked about your “static” tour area before; I’ve always thought you should be changing those pages to feature your new guys/scenes every single week. Sounds like a lot of people agree. Otherwise, yeah, to the people who bookmark your site and come back it seems like you’re not updating. IMO, I’d make it priority #1 and I’d be willing to bet money that you’d start seeing immediate results.
Also, I just did a quick peek and the tour updates are all out of chronological order. In fact your most recent update (or so I infer; maybe there are more recent ones) is on like page 5 or 6, and the older ones are mixed around from March to May back to March again.
ps. Jake Lyons is yummy. Move him up to the front. And where’s that hottie with the reading glasses I emailed about?? He needs to be in your tour!
i’d focus more on uncut cocks and less on amateur guys. after all, the site is an uncut site, yet the top of the page shows no cocks at all, and the face pics are bigger than the cock pics for each preview. i would absolutely post the updates on the tour in date order as this way it seems like the updates are very infrequent. if you don’t want to do that - and i don’t feel the previews at the top of the first page of the tour are your best - just remove the dates.

the lower part of the page again focuses on the guys but NOT on uncut cocks.
arrange your text for each preview so it looks nice to the eye. believe me, it does matter.[/QUOTE]
If he removes only the dates from the tour he didn’t do achieve anything… visitors would still see the same guy over and over and over again… and the updates would still be burried in the back
i sell sites just fine that don’t update. the thing is, guys who are seeing the site for the first time who have never been there before are seeing that what appears to be the newest update was “Added 04/07/2011”. if they’re interested in sites that update regularly, they’ll be done at that point since it seems that the latest update is three months ago. and if they go further, they’ll see that the next one is 05/26/2011 and the one after from feb. nothing from june or july, and it’s very annoying to me when i see things out of order - i’m willing to bet some porn surfers feel the same way.
besides, the best looking or hottest updates he has aren’t the ones on the first page. why not lead with your strengths?
Those are some good tips, Basschick. I’ll work on the tour. I’m using Elevated X, so the template is what it is unless I get someone to edit the Smarty template. May have to do that. Sounds like I need to show more foreskin. Good tip!
The updates are set to change randomly on the tour each day. That way it’s fresh every day. But maybe I need to re-think that.
I’ve also got the option of a transparent tour, but I’d need some work done on that template as well. The transparent tour may be a good idea. At least surfers will get to see the site and the updates.
I really appreciate all the advice!
I would still urge you to rethink the tour… I am sorry, the site does not look fresh every day because of the rotation, but infact (again sorry!) it looks stale, old and unupdated. Which is a shame, because you have got some great content.
