If you’re like me and have a library of Randy Blue videos on your hard drive you may want to check to see if they’re still watchable. I just did and it looks like about 95% are no longer available for viewing. Apparently the license that was downloaded with the videos expired or something. When I clicked on the old videos I saw that a license was being looked for online but it could not be found.
Then again, maybe this problem is all on my end? I recently moved my RB archive to another drive so I wonder if that caused the problem. But I also moved a ton of other videos and can still watch those. I’d be curious to know if anyone else has the same RB video problem.
It also looks like they changed their download method… before you would click on a video and it would download into a cue area on the RB site before you could actually save it on your drive. Now you can just click on a video to save it as you would on any other site. Perhaps this change has something to do with my old videos not playing?
In any event it looks like I’ll be busy this weekend re-downloading some of my favorite RB men… and this may take awhile because they have so many I just love!
Re: You may want to check your Randy Blue video downloads…
I’ve also noticed some of their embeddable videos stopped working. It seems they are switching from flv to f4v. Unfortunately when they switch it leaves those of use using their old embed code with broken video players on our sites If you want to switch formats for your new content I get that but I don’t understand how you can remove old URL’s and replace with new without notifying your affiliates of this change seeing as it is going to break their players.
Re: You may want to check your Randy Blue video downloads…
The easiest thing to do would be just to look for videos you have from them that are flv and change the extension to f4v. Non of the flv videos work any longer. Might be quicker doing a database search and replace… Not sure how many videos you have for them. I have 871 of their videos online and found 99 that were using the old flv links.
