XXX TOS madness

Re: XXX TOS madness

Danny,

It was never my intention to offend anyone and I apologize if i did. I am against .xxx just as much as the next webmaster is. And I have learned a lot by reading these threads. Some of it about .xxx itself and some about the companies that are either for or against it.

In regards to your point. I wish I had $100 for every time one of the domain boys hit me up and said I have the .xyz of your domain and if you don’t buy it for $xx,xxx I am going to go auction it off. To me it’s just not all that newsworthy. Happens all the time. That is what these guys do for a living. They have been doing it for years and will continue to do it with each new tld that comes out.

It’s amusing that just two years ago few wanted anything to do with Manwin, now companies are using them in press releases. Just like Manwin we…

Mark is against .xxx with a passion, yet his corporate attorney is on the policy board. I was drinking my coffee when I read that and literally spit it out laughing so hard.

Others wont link, list, or do anything with .xxx yet they have no problem still marketing their other sites to feed cash into the development of their .xxx projects. If one really wants to stop .xxx then stop feeding the companies that are developing .xxx properties money. That is one case where actions speak louder than words.

Personally, I am not holding anything against anyone. Each will do what they have to do.

But, I do agree that sometimes we fear, as rawtop pointed out, the wrong things. That is an important message. Ages ago when COPA was what everyone was talking about as the end to internet porn, all webmasters were fearing that. And right in front of them they were totally ignoring that the biller that was handling most of the transactions in porn was going under. More companies went bust because their biller went bankrupt than any did because of COPA. The only ones that went out of business because of COPA were those that like with 2257 chose to leave the industry out of fear.

In my opinion .xxx will face what all tlds face - supply and demand issues. The market at the end of the day will determine the success or failure of .xxx, not government regulations.

Gotchya’

I think as you said before everyone is going to do what they want to do, and most people’s minds are already made up on the issue. Like others, I’m tired of all the threads (and I have work to do)! Let’s all just enjoy the holidays. :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: XXX TOS madness

Indeed what Lloyd said. Ultimately it’s not whether your are for or against .XXX, it will be market forces that will decide. However, .XXX is a significant issue because it tests whether ICANN is a coordination regime focused on keeping the Internet DNS growing and working properly, or a choking point where various parties try to control what the rest of us can see or think.
