March was terrible month for me. Despite traffic being decent and surviving a big Google update unharmed. Maybe it’s just me but I sent more traffic but got a lot less sales.
For example compared to Feb, I sent about 20% more traffic to some of the larger sponsors yet I got between 15-20% less sales.
On top of that live cam sales which has done very well for me for a long time just died, down 40%. Same again, traffic was ok and I had the most amount of new registrations I’ve ever had… yet sales just went down.
Google had said be patient with this update because it is not their normal update but a month long update from what I understand. It will hopefully get rid of the trash sites and the ones where you can’t go back in your browser and all that nonsense but we shall see.
We did also have a very strong February (our best ever in fact) but March was a little down from last year. My feeling is it’s tax season (in the US at least) combined with worries about inflation and higher gas prices might be causing people to spend less on things like porn. I’m also wondering if all these states adding age verification laws is contributing to the decline.
Affiliate sales are about the same. Toy sales have been hit hard.
Our community site seems to be doing well. We were confident it would because 90% of it is text (fiction, reader generated content, personals etc). Toy sales, however, have slumped dramatically.
It could be bad timing that we installed a new theme and had to fix some issues, but even that shouldn’t have led to what we’re seeing.
I’m guessing Google has carved out a protected space for retail, because it seems smaller sellers have been hit hard despite content quality. Even though we write unique product descriptions and articles we’re still consistently beaten by a dozen sites all pasting in generic product text.
I mistakenly had hope we’d see a return of “content is king” with regard to product sales, but that little tag-line seems to have been abandoned along with “don’t be evil”.
I guess this could be white-label duplicate content issues? Or maybe the business is just so saturated now Google is culling that aspect of adult. I wanted to promote Stripchat more than I have been with actual sponsor posts, but there’s no content to use.
No, I have more registrations (free signups) than before and same traffic. I’m guessing something has happened on the backend or something that the models do (sending to onlyfans). Who knows…
Our sales were down in March on Boyfun, Jawked and Karups. I live in a tourist town in Mexico where prices rose the past two years and its been the quietest high season in a decade. Inflation, housing, food, insurance, cars costs all rising. USA reporting lower income tax refunds than normal. I am surprised we haven’t had a bigger drop overall honestly, and all just a small dip in March with a solid Jan, ok Feb and so so start to April.
Yeah I suspect that has a lot to do with it. I just read that here in Spain food prices gone up by 40% over the last 3 years which is a massive increase. Perhaps you are right, lucky it’s not worse.
Actually thinking about it (and looking it up) last time inflation was this high was around 2007 and 1994 before that. The time in 2007 I don’t remember feeling as bad personally as this time. Now I do feel it and notice the prices have gone up. So really as an adult I’ve only experienced one time of inflation before this.
Inflation has been a thing for two years though so no idea why it would be bad now. My chaturbate spenders have dropped in half the past month or two and I’ve had stable income for over 10 years with them
