Verotel Closed their affiliate program

It seems Verotel closed their affiliate program without notice or telling any affiliates. Seems to have happened on the 21st Oct. Someone over at GFY contacted them and had the reply:

“We unfortunately had to stop our affiliates program last week.”

Well that’s unfortunate…

I wonder if this situation is going to be just like SegPay whereas a large chunk of the sponsors on the platform don’t know about it either and once brought to their attention have no plans to find an alternative solution because they don’t even know how to go about doing so. :rage:

I think that’s exactly what will happen.

That’s pretty bad news.

What will now happen with the sponsors and their affiliates that used Verotel? How do we promote them now?

I actually promote only Bentleyrace through Verotel. Is Ben from Bentley race aware of this?

Sponsors are fine, they just don’t have any affiliate program.

I spoke to Bentley Race, he is unaware but trying to find out more from Verotel.

After being alerted to this by Bjorn last night I asked Verotel what happened. They responded today saying they had closed the program and were not able to give me a reason for doing so. I am a little bit shocked by this sudden change. Some of you will know that I have promoted my shoots every week without fail for many years. As of this week, I have pushed out promotions for 980 shoots.
I’m not actually sure what to do next because historically I have been limited to Verotel’s service (which I should say has been a great service for the 20+ years I have been with them), because other processors will not allow me to open an account with them from Australia.
I could speculate why the program was closed, but I don’t think it will help anything.
I’m going to focus on what to do next.

I really don’t know myself what the solution could be. I know it’s possible to still use verotel and have affiliates but it would require you do use something like NATs which adds a cost and takes time to setup and learn.

Wow, what a bummer.
I need to go pull some links down now.

A sponsor sent me this information they received from Verotel.

Affiliates should make sure their minimum payout amount is set to 1 in their control center as to ensure that they receive their last unpaid invoice.

Thanks for the reminder, ive updated it now. At least they intend to pay out. Epoch just closed and didn’t pay what was owed.

Well this sucks! No notice to webmasters as I found out from an affiliate. I contacted Verotel for confirmation…they did but didn’t give a reason. They also had no suggestions to assist with the obvious issues this brings there loyal clients (20+ years).

I am not doing enough business to bother administering an affiliate program. I welcome any suggestions.

Maybe they were not getting enough business through the affiliate program to keep running. The number of sign ups coming through the affiliate program used to be huge. But in recent years it’s fairly low.
I’m more worried about the “no reason” given aspect of this.
I have not been able to find an alternate processor who will work with a business based in Australia.
