I haven’t seen this question come up in awhile and was curious what everyone thinks. If you could set up shop in one part of the world to film hot naked men, where would it be?
The location should meet these criteria:
Large selection of hot young men.
Men who will do porn for a relatively low rate (as opposed to the hottest American guys who demand – and can get – thousands of dollars)
Men who are OK with gay sex for money (as opposed to some American guys who would never do it or demand outrageous fees).
The area should also be friendly to gay people and a generally nice place to live.
I think the Czech Republic area used to meet these qualifications so I’m wondering if that’s still true or if another area has become more popular.
And my comments about America are not meant to exclude the entire country… I wonder if there is an untapped state that has a lot of hot men who might do porn, like maybe Iowa or Nebraska? Perhaps the state with a high number of unemployed young men?

I don’t think there is a “magic” formula in finding models and I don’t think there is a certain area to find models either. The issues I encounter when finding models is something we all encounter no matter if we are in America or in Japan. I think its a matter of who wants to be a porn model and willing to have themselves filmed or not. Pending on the price and the models “willingness” determines if a model is going to be filmed or not.
You can recruit models yourself (which is particularly a full time job) or you can hire models through a modeling agent or work with a recruiter. I think a combination of both hiring your own models and working with a recruiter is the best way to find models for your projects.

I’ve been doing a lot of travelling over the past few years and from the cities I have visited across North and South America and Europe, the most expensive cities for models are Paris and New York. I usually equate the cost of models to the cost of living in those cities. It kinda makes sense that guys living in expensive cities would want to charge more for doing scenes.
I can also get an idea of how much the guys would cost in various cities by looking at how much escorts charge in those cities on Rentboy etc.
By the way, my favourite places to find guys are in San Francisco, New York, Paris, Berlin, down in Spain, and of course… Australia and New Zealand I have shot in a lot more places… but I have more success in those. I recently shot some great guys in Budapest too, but I won’t add it to my list until I’ve gone there more than once to be sure.

To get top guys anywhere I think you are going to have to pay, We have models from both Czech and the US and the top model payscales do not differ substantially

I agree with BelAmiOnline.
I also think that it is much better to realise in your business plan that you have to pay the models reasonably well and that trying to get models at the lowest price is a false economy.
If the models feel they are being paid well then they are more likely to turn up on time and do a good performance.
If they feel good about what they are doing then you will get a much better video and that will sell more in the long run.

I think every location has it’s challenges with finding models. You should pay models relative to the local economy, however I do agree with others that it should be a fair and competitive rate or else the models will not do a good job and word spreads fast in any country if you get a bad reputation.
I have shot in a lot more places… but I have more success in those. I recently shot some great guys in Budapest too, but I won’t add it to my list until I’ve gone there more than once to be sure.
