These guys are very determined and passionate about elevating the gay porn industry to a new and MUCH needed level… and I’m totally here for it!
In the last few years, it seems like the adult industry has just tried to accommodate the gay porn industry by including our biz in some slowly dying shows with a cookie-cutter structures. With so many new adult shows popping up and the camming & clips for sale business relentless growth. The gay biz seems to have been left out, It also isn’t to blame for the death of The Phoenix Forum, that show started collapsing on its much heavier straight side ( I know, because that’s where a majority of my business was about 4 years ago, still my fave show; RIP)
We’ve had meetups and a lot of awards recently but no dedicated b2b & b2c summit.
This sets the bar high for a top gay blog site to set up a dedicated B2B summit, B2C show AND 3rd big award show with a huge name hosting and contributing to our industry! Several of us on this board are nominated and will be in attendance ( shout out to our 3 Noms for FamilyDick and YoungPerps!)
What are your thoughts? Do you plan on attending? Is this the “revival” of the gay industry?
:o
I’ve actually had quite the opposite reaction from other industry people. We might be oblivious to the “Destroyed lives”, which is is a heavy blow, I’m sure you have your reasons.
Nonetheless, I do think that what they are attempting to do in Jan is needed and about time, It might start a wave of gay porn centric adult summits, now that we don’t really have a show to look forward to
What I’m talking about is all documented right here on Gay Demon. There’s no reason for you not to understand what’s happened in the past. Use the site search feature at the top of the page and look for ‘Str8UpGayPorn’. The dirt starts about 3 years ago and goes back from there. It wasn’t a single event. It happened over and over and over again.
The sponsors here may hate him, but they like traffic, so they won’t say anything. And some of the affiliates won’t say anything because they don’t want to be his target. But it’s all there to read if you look for it.
Ah, I see…well I don’t mean to rip open an old wound on this forum, their past behavior with sponsors on here was unbeknownst to me and the conception of this thread.
But excluding them from the topic Jay, I’m just glad to see SOMETHING new and dedicated to our industry for next year. Aside from the usual predominantly straight summits, we don’t have PHX anymore and I don’t get nearly as much gay biz connections at other large mixed shows.
I’m all in for anything that is geared towards connecting and celebrating the gay porn industry to the masses.
Jay has a point unfortunately, many of us stay out of any discussion because we worry about getting personally attacked for saying something. Which is a shame because this award sounds interesting and str8upgayporn publish some interesting and engaging content.
What I’m seeing is a trend â the world’s biggest pirate has largely taken over our industry (Manwin -> Mindgeek) and now the gay industry’s most hated blogger is thriving and branching out. These are trends I have to deal with, but I’m absolutely not “glad” to see it happening. I’d MUCH rather see the good guys win.
I totally get it! And I agree its really unfortunate that people would be so worried, they rather keep quiet and head down to a couple of opinionated gay men running a popular gay blog. They might have a vicious reputation and the blog may be laced with hypercritical posts. But that shouldn’t stop anyone from speaking their own opinions - look at Jay : )
It takes a lot of nerve to run a business based on one’s opinion!
I can’t say that my experience with them has been unpleasant, now that doesn’t mean I’ve supported every post about my sites and company they’ve done! Trust me we’re running multiple faux-cest sites here, I hear negative opinions all the time.
I support: What they are doing in January, Speaking your mind, Underdogs, Gayporn, Jay, and a drama-free year ahead for the love of christ and everything holy!lol
You clearly didn’t bother to read what happened before. If you had you wouldn’t be acting like it’s just Zach being opinionated. Until you read what happened before there can’t be a productive conversation in this thread. So I’m outâ¦
âYou clearly are strongly opinionated your self! First of all, I did search and read up on some past threads, I agree, some nasty stuff there from years back for sure! I’m not here taking their side on any of that, I’m talking business. youâre assuming I didnât read up just because Iâm not spitting hateful rhetoric that lines up with your opinion about them. So because of that, you donât see a âproductive conversationâ here.
This post was intended to engage and get feedback on âWHAT âthey are doing in January âand the upcoming year events for the gay industryâ. I NOW know that mentioning them here isn’t a good idea lol lots of views, no positive engagement - perhaps a more general approach to the forecast of the gay industry would be a more appropriate thread here.
When it comes to awards, I’m probably the worst critic simply because as you stated Louis_M, “3rd big award show with a huge name hosting and contributing to our industry!” Those are the same studios/producers that will get the awards no matter whether a smaller studio produced something better or not. It’s simply “who’s got the deepest pockets” … “who’s fucking who” or “who’s contributing the most party favors.” Politics and the Grabby’s come to mind and who would have ever thought that those 2 words would ever be used as an example together in the same sentence LMAO Everyone knew who was going to win the Grabby’s long before the show.
My apologies in advance to those of you who attend the award shows and love to party, but that’s pretty much all those shows are. Just another excuse to go party and be seen.
Oh, I’m not a fan of attending award shows! lol for the same reasons and they typically just drag on and on - I’m honestly more intrigued about the b2b summit and fan show!
Small studios producing amazing content shouldn’t worry about the large studios, especially at a fan show! This is an opportunity to not just met fans but meet talent and maybe other studios - BUT, this is str8upgayporn running it and I got some hot tea on why a lot of smaller studios won’t show up.
I hope this is the start of a new chapter for the gay industry - more business summits and fan engaging events ( that isn’t just parties or awards)
I was with a bunch of xxx models this weekend who were all gabbing about being nominated for the @str8upgayawards… most know what an insidious click-bait vile and hate filled blog it it, it amazes me guys just overlook that for the feeling of being ânominatedâ for something -DD
