there are a few programs that supply content that doesn’t show the models’ cocks much, or at least not when they’re hard. now one of those programs is creating videos that are good quality and show action but only very brief glimpses of cock or penetration.
my first thought is that these won’t be enough to trigger the surfers. what do you think?
Re: promo content that doesn’t show much
I guess it would depend upon whether the penetration is proportionate to the amount of other stuff in the videos they are promoting
so if the finished scene has a large percentage of oral and fucking in only one position, I’d think that would make sense but if the scene has a lot fo fucking and in lots of positions with lots of camera angles, I’d think a few glimpses in a 30 second, one or two minute clip wouldn’t be nearly enough to showcase the scene
Re: promo content that doesn’t show much
I tried some English Lads stuff on Gay Porn Pig at one time, and I made the mistake of talking about the guy’s cock (even though you could hardly see it). So a surfer fired back a public comment like this: “So are we going to see this cock, or are you just going to talk about it?”
I think not showing much of the guy’s cock is so 1999. At Butch Dixon we have a policy of not showing cum shots in previews and webmaster content, but I think you’ve got to show some cock to get the surfers’ interested.

Re: promo content that doesn’t show much
I agree with Dzinerbear on that…very 1999. Potential customers can see all the cock they want for free so why are you teasing them with no cock or limited cock and expect them to pull out the credit card…just don’t give away the money shot…that is what they want to see and that is what they will pay for…if they have seen enough to at least keep their interest!
Re: promo content that doesn’t show much
Unless this is just to spark thoughts/conversation, wouldn’t it be more productive to contact the sponsors directly and make such suggestions? A sponsor/affiliate relationship should be a mutual partnership - you’re helping each other make money. The affiliate has the right to make suggestions.
I get very little feedback from my affiliates. My members are very vocal, which I love because the site is geared toward them - they tell me exactly what they’re thinking, and it’s much appreciated.
I guess if one “shouts down the well” in vain too many times it may seem pointless. I don’t understand the mentality of sponsors not responding to messages - that’s just good service.
Re: promo content that doesn’t show much
It may be that sponsors are trying to create content that’s intended to qualify as exempt from the new secondary producer requirements of 2257A that go into effect in about, oh, 3 weeks
Not that it will work… as somebody pointed out on another thread, nonexplicit content edited from explicit content is still explicit and triggers recordkeeping, but 3/4 of sponsors and affiliates out there don’t understand 2257 anyway, so it’s probably a “best attempt”
Re: promo content that doesn’t show much
it’s a real sponsor and i believe that bjorn talked to them about this before. they added a tiny bit more, but the videos are so weird to watch - every time you see something WHAM they cut to a fuck scene from an angle with no cock or a blowjob from behind.

i’m pretty sure they’re in the uk, and i’m pretty sure they were doing this before the 2005 2257 regs came out.

Re: promo content that doesn’t show much
Sometimes a great cum-shot pic can really help sell a membership. We provide these in our affiliate updates where appropriate
That said, yes, I too wonder why some sponsors are worried about showing a nice cock and some hot action…
Re: promo content that doesn’t show much
We always include softcore pictures in our exclusive content sets, and when the content allows for it, we also include the first video as a pure softcore / non-nude video. I get Ben to do this because there are a lot of non-nude blogs where these pics and videos work very well (including in our own gayunderwear blog & RSS feed).
And when it comes to traffic that converts, some of those non-nude blogs do incredibly well as they have a very loyal base of subscribers and often have excellent SERPs too.
