Ive noticed really low sales last 7 days or so, ratios just gone bad after a decent start to January. January last year was a bit mixed too but not quite as bad as its been last few days.
I feel like this happens every year because people over extend themselves from the holidays.
I don’t know if it’s because of the economic crisis or has something to do with another Google helpful content update, but it’s not one of the best starts of the year.
Could that have had an impact?
I’m seeing similar amounts of traffic but worse ratios, i.e. less people are willing to sign up. Christmas was also worse than previous years but last days of Dec made it not entirely terrible.
I’m wondering if the economic impact from inflation etc is starting to really bit now maybe.
In the general case, Google can send a lot of visitors who are not looking for what Google thinks they are looking for. So I think the helpful content update has something to do with poor sales.
Yeah agreed. This year the sales over Xmas were much stronger than I expected given the economy and inflation. The first 2 weeks of Jan have been slower for sure. Solid weekend for us after a bad mid week.
My sales have been low since October last year, and especially since the second part of December. This Christmas was quite horrible for sales, I think I had only a couple. Compared to the previous years around the Christmas, it’s quite a difference. And this January looks as sterile as it gets. It seems that people don’t have the money for porn, or they are not horny enough, or maybe both {perhaps they reinforce each other). I see noticeably less engagement on Twitter as well, although that could be also due to the changes on Twitter itself.
I’ve also been noticing a lot of refunds and trials not being extended or renewed. There was one guy who bought a CCbill lifetime membership for $200 in early December, only to return it as a refund at the end of the month. It looks like some of my visitors were in the generous holiday mood in the first part of December, and then by the end of the month they kind of realized that they were short on money and that it would be stupid to spend it on porn.
I have read as well that those Google “helpful updates” often bring in visitors that didn’t actually search for the keywords that appear on your site. So they essentially just click the back button. I’m afraid that this business model is in its death throes, and I can’t say there were no warnings, because the writing is on the wall for several years now. Still hoping for the best for this year, though.
Im really sorry to hear that. It’s been bad but not that bad for me. Things have also picked up a bit this week so perhaps it’s just a low mid month.
