Is it just me or is there always something extra that CCBill is taking from me?

I mean I just got this email (posted below this post) today about the annual Visa renewal fee.

It seems to me like they just got $500 from me for giving me the privilege of processing Mastercard cards…now it’s Visa cards. I mean isn’t that what these cards do? Why are they charging us for doing what they do exist to do? Take the risk? What fucking risk is that?

They take no risk because as we all know they simply give back the money TO ANYONE who asks for a chargeback? They are out nothing! We are the ones getting FUCKED - TWICE!

And then there is the fee CCBill takes out for themselves…the “processing fee”. So they make money on each of MY SALES…Visa or Mastercard make money on each of MY SALESI make less and less money on each of MY SALES! :grrr:

I didn’t get my check last week and now i have to pay them a $20 fee. Good to be CCBill!
These guys are so slick, they charge a .49 “transfer fee” to mail the check!

Re: Is it just me or is there always something extra that CCBill is taking from me?

I don’t know that it’s my place, going to bat for CCBill, but I am. The Visa and MC fees aren’t really CCBill’s doing that I’m aware of. We pay them for both CCBill and Epoch (= $2000/year). I agree that it’s a total rip-off on Visa/MC’s part, and I think that an enterprising lawyer should get a class action suit going, but I don’t think CCBill has much of a say in what Visa demands.

That CCBill takes 14.5% off the top is a bit ouchy, but you gotta figure they handle customer service 24/7/365. I’d hate to think how much it’d cost me to pay someone to sit by the phone all night, all year long in case someone can’t log in, or can’t figure out how to download a movie, or manage their subscription. It ain’t “perfect” customer service, but any time I get a difficult customer it’s nice to be able to just give 'em CCBill’s support number and have them deal with it.

As for the $0.49 processing fee, that’s the cost of a stamp. And, yeah, maybe they should just foot that expense. But more important, (I’ve said it before and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone here), CCBill should get with the dang program and start offering ACH like everyone else does. Being a “high risk IPSP” is not a good enough excuse any more, considering Epoch offers ACH. Paypal processes for my DVD store and they do ACH. My suspicion is that CCBill just wants to keep raking in the extra $15 wire fee from their clients who don’t seem to care about it. Personally, I won’t pay it just on principle. I’ll pay the 49 cents for a stamp instead.

I have to also go to bat a little bit here for CCBill as well. Yes the cost of a stamp is .49 so I don’t care if they make me pay for that but I get a wire anyway because I want an iron clad assurance I’ll get my money when I expect it. That $15 is just the cost of doing business IMHO. Write it off.

I have also heard rumblings that ACH may be in the works for CCBill soon. We shall see.

As for the processing fees, yes Visa and MC have got a good racket going with that “high risk” fee they charge us yearly but that’s not a fee imposed by CCBill it’s a pass through fee from the card companies. The gay porn market has a lot less chargebacks than the straight market, just FYI.

You complain about the fee CCBill charges itself to process your transactions. Explain to me how they would run a business and make any money if they didn’t charge this fee? That’s how they make THEIR money. I will also say that CCBill customer service and merchant support are very good at what they do and very responsive.

So, I can’t jump on the CCBill bashing bandwagon this time. Sorry.

Yeah, I write it off of course and you are right I am more pissed at Visa and Mastercard buttfucking everyone. I don’t like that they claim that we are a high risk business and yet will refund months and months of membership fees to some asshole who claims they “didn’t sign up at that porn site” after their wife discovers the charge on the bill!

Just venting…it’s the summer heat…just makes me angry at everything and getting that email telling me that I am going to pay out more money was just too much.

Re: Is it just me or is there always something extra that CCBill is taking from me?

If they got with the program and did the direct deposit thing, I wouldn’t be complaining about missing checks or petty stamp charges!
Give us ACH and then I can relax, It’s CCBill.

Re: Is it just me or is there always something extra that CCBill is taking from me?

I don’t know why CCBill won’t do ACH. It’s a mystery.

Re: Is it just me or is there always something extra that CCBill is taking from me?

I think CCBill is pretty reasonable as far as fees are concerned. Even though I pay $1.10 for a stamp as a Canadian. Any other fees incured are probably someone else’s doing, as others have stated here.

The $20 check cancellation fee is pretty normal. In fact, it’s cheaper than what a Canadian bank charges. I believe my bank charges $26 to stop a check payment.

CCBill does need to upgrade in a lot of ways. It seems as though they’re stuck in their ways. They can get away with staying in the 90s because of how damn reliable they are. Which trumps the negative things in my opinion. CCBill can be a pain, but I have to give them a thumbs up for sticking around and being reliable. No matter what, we always get paid. Merchants and Affiliates alike.

Re: Is it just me or is there always something extra that CCBill is taking from me?

I didn’t get paid last week. :frowning:

I say the following with love…

Robert chances are your check got chewed up by a postal sorting machine or stuck to the back of another envelope. I don’t think it’s CCBill’s “fault” you didn’t get paid. That’s the nature of having a paper check being handled by multiple people, machines, and the dangers that come with it.

I highly doubt CCBill couldn’t afford to pay you and just decided to skip a week to buy themselves some time. If there was some mass problem with CCBill paying people we would have heard about it last week from tons of others for sure.

Also, since it is most likely not CCBill’s fault that the check didn’t make it to you and most likely their bank will charge them a $20 stop payment on that check I don’t think it’s unreasonable to have them pass that fee to you.

You know I love ya kid, but how about instead of bitching about it here over and over again you contact your rep at CCBill and ask nicely if they can help you out and waive the fee and send the funds in your next check?

Loveyameanit.

Re: Is it just me or is there always something extra that CCBill is taking from me?

Thanks for the advice, Teddy.

I didn’t really think they ran out of money and didn’t pay me. It’s obviously some small error that I’m just trying to get rectified.
And I have been trying to work with them. Quite a bit, in fact.

Not really bitching about it. Just mentioned it in a post initially to see if anyone else didn’t receive their check. Then added to the conversation here. Thought that that’s what these boards are for. That’ll be the last time I mention it.

I think CCBill got the message. They do monitor these boards from what I understand. But like I said before the best way is to contact your rep there directly which it sounds like you are doing. hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction.

Hey I wouldn’t complain if CCBill got ACH. I would be happy for another $780 in my pocket a year.

Re: Is it just me or is there always something extra that CCBill is taking from me?

I’m sorry that happened to you Robert. That sucks. I’ve missed checks before as well and had to pay the cancellation fee. Although, I will say that if you get the right rep they might wave the fee for you. I can’t mention any names because they asked me not to, but there are a few reps who will wave the fee. You just have to find those diamonds in the rough.

I think the longest I waited for an overdue check from CCBill was about a week and a half. So I wouldn’t fret it too much. You will get paid.

Teddy is right. The envelope most likely got stuck to something or the mail person didn’t have enough coffee that particular day. I know the Canada Post folks can be pretty bone-headed sometimes. They are human.

Good luck it.

Re: Is it just me or is there always something extra that CCBill is taking from me?

Hey Robert, course this is a good place to mention this stuff. I dunno what banks down there do, I know the very few times I had to have a stop payment issued, which wasn’t all that long ago, my bank charged me $7.50 for it. Some accounts even include a no charge for those kind of services, but you pay for it in the monthly account fee.

$20 does seem a bit excessive, and as for the envelope getting jammed in a sorting machine, eh, anything is possible these days.
