Is it better to have a preview for all videos or to limit preview only to a few?

As a result of this thread and THANK YOU Dominique for starting it, we are going to change up our tours and allotted previews. Will it increase conversions? Will it just increase the amount of bandwidth we have to pay for because of the free loaders? Who knows? One thing for certain that I do agree with is, the longer they stick around, the better our chances of picking up a sale.
You’re welcome Doug, I hope your conversions will increase

As many I don’t like when everything redirect on join page. Most of time I close the site and move elsewhere.
I’ll add my agreement to Keith’s comments. It just seems to me, that if I am gonna buy something, I want to browse the store, maybe have a peek at what there is. Like going into a clothing store, maybe I’ll like the jeans, maybe try them on to see how they fit, look, before plunking down mega cash. A tour should do the same, give me a chance to see if it fits with my tastes.

my opinion, of a true skinflint
The average buyer spends over 12 mins on our site before actually making a purchase…

Re: Is it better to have a preview for all videos or to limit preview only to a few?

 • Totally agree with “Hollywood” style trailers, but we don’t learn anything new here, it’s just logical, showing the best is the best way to sale and promote your product.

 • To show a lot, show a bit or show nothing are all possible and works… Maybe you close the site if you cannot see any preview, but you can also be more curious or very frustrated and if you come for the 2,3,4nd times to the same site (because it has a huge traffic from list, tubes, tgp…) you will finally decide to pay, just because you waaaaant to see.

Some e-commerce / buyers club do the same: “you need an invitation to access our website”, even Google did it to launch Gmail at the beginning, remember that visitors love to feel VIP and that frustration is also a key to sale => it’s why we do frustrating trailers without cumshot for example…

Unfortunately it’s not only ONE good way to do, each paysite, each content, each traffic source needs its own strategy…

It’s why at French Twinks, we develop our own tools and test some scenarios based on:

 • country, day, hour
 • session duration before coming to the join page
 • how many time someone visits the site during the last days

“Targeted & smart marketing” is the key of any success in this jungle… Just watch Amazon strategies to get inspired.

P.S: Sorry for my english, I’m french also, and I’m working as e-marketing consultant for 10 years, I’m just new in gay sex industry and I have a lot to learn and to do, to convert mainstream winning strategies to this niche market.
