I had this comment submitted to about Verotel (by one of my visitors):
the only problem with this site and it’s many affilated sites is that they use Verotel for payment. Verotel, is, oh, lets say, somewhat less then reputable. I’ve been burned by them, filed a complaint, Won my case via Chase international fraud investagation unit and because they were legally bound to refund my money for charging me 3 months membership in a club that was off line for over 3 months they have banned me from doing business with them for ever!!! In other words, if you have any problems with aquisition of the clubs that have charged you for, you’re fucked, They won’t help you in any way with your problem nor will they refund your money without a legal battle such as I went through. The owners of these clubs should deal with a more professional and honest outfit such as paypal. I find that Holland based Verotel really sucks!!!
As always, its hard to say how much of it is true. Still makes for intersting reading.
I hear what he’s saying, but if he charges back through CCBill or Epoch, he’s got just as good a chance of ending up in the fraud or “do not accept” database.
I think CCBill would handle the situation differently - and Epoch too. If they saw that the site was offline they would refund the customer no questions asked.
I recently had an issue with a CCBill sponsor. I joined the site and because I took my laptop to the studio and logged on with a different IP address I got blocked. I explained this to the webmaster and he refused to unblock me unless I bought another membership for my laptop! Can you believe it?
So, I sent the email “conversation” to CCBill and they refunded me without any hassle. And hell, if I treated my customers like that I would expect CCBill to do the same.
He didn’t request a refund the first month or second month the site was offline, he only chose to request a refund after the third month the site was offline? right
Verotel is just like CCBill and the other processors. I’ve had months of memberships credited by them, as others have had with every other processor, to avoid a charge back.
I’m glad the guy got banned. Asking for three months of credit for a site is fraud. If he can’t bother to cancel a membership for a site that was down until the third month it was down, then he charges back the membership, he should be banned from every processor, not just Verotel.
My point was not whether CCBill or Verotel (or Epoch) would have handled a situation this, that, or the other way. But as a site owner when I issue a refund to a surfer, I have an option to add them to the fraud database, at least with CCBill, I haven’t had to do an Epoch refund. So my point was that getting added to the fraud database and being unable to use one’s credit card is not a phenomenon unique to Verotel.
unless he bought a 90 day membership? Even if he waited 3 months to log back in the site he joined, it was still offline for three months. If he paid for the site and it was offline, he shouldn’t be charged.
I believe him. Ticket clubs go offline all the time.

This is EXACTLY why I like Netbilling. I scratch my head every day and wonder how many webmasters put a surfer on the negative db for something like Adam did. Using his laptop with a different ip address and getting an email saying he should buy a membership for his laptop as well.
Yes. Squirt, I do. It’s a way a webmaster can process through Verotel without paying the Visa fees. Some sites are ticket clubs. I have seen quite a few ticket clubs go down. Some of them are crap sites as well.
it wasn’t hard for me to believe since lots of guys don’t check their credit card statements every month. on the other hand, some never check it at all.
and i believe that tickets club is maybe like an avs - not sure about that - but if you only joined to see one site, i don’t see why that would matter.
a good reason to know what sponsor that is is so we won’t promote him - or will avoid logging in using more than one IP. personally i work with both cable and DSL, so my IP changes daily depending on which is faster at the moment.
OK, PM me for the site details and email exchange… but it must remain confidential as I don’t want to make a big drama out of this. I may not approve of his customer service, but I don’t feel it right to drag them down on a public board.
Good detectives always keep mum, that’s why I was wanting to know via PM. But seriously Patti was right as to why I wanted to know, plus I’m curious to see how they run their business to correlate it with what kind of mindset would not allow dual access after a discussion with the member.
OK, I have sent you both the details. Please let’s not make this a public affair… I was only replying on this thread about how different processors treat their customers!
