I was in Intense Cash yesterday looking for some link codes and notice that only revshare was available. I just confirmed with IC that they’ve eliminated PPS altogether, so everything’s on revshare.
I’m not sure if I missed an email or not, mailings from them don’t always make it to my box. Did anyone else see an email about this?
Without defending them, I think most programs will abandon the PPS model. Let’s be honest, the rate of renewals is too low these days, so I can imagine how bad strategy this model is, especially for small programs like that one. I personally always choose the revshare model because I think it is fairer. Of course, it is good when making major changes, the partners to be notified in a timely manner. Unfortunately, lately, our partners have begun to forget to notify us of serious changes too often.
I see a lot of PPS sales from affiliates on sites that rebill very well. So the affiliate loses out in the long run.
I honestly don’t see that much -$0.00 on PPS sales. However, this is why we don’t offer PPS on promotions like the 50% Off sales. Revshare only and it levels the playing field.
Well, your program is an exception, at least in my case. You have interesting niche sites that have no analogs. Usually, most people cancel even before the first rebill, at least that’s what I see.
Chuck at Intense Cash says affiliates were advised about this by email in July and August. I asked for a copy of the email since I don’t believe I ever received it. Crickets.
I tend to use PPS on programs that don’t allow me to shut off a trial. I don’t like making .50 cents on a trial that doesn’t rebill and I never seem to make up for it in volume of sales.
We are happy to still be able to make a profit off of having a PPS program on most of our sites. It is true most of our sites are in niches with very loyal members so we are a bit lucky in that regard.
We use revshare except where it is not available. It’s more sustainable (agree with Bjorn there) and a more equitable arrangement.
Ultimately, we want the studios to earn max revenue as well - or we’ve got nothing to promote.
Yes revshare is best long-term, if you have the traffic to support it. But if you make one sale in a week and it’s a $1.00 trial that doesn’t rebill, then you’ve made .50 cents. I generally use PPS on sponsors that don’t let me shut off the cheap trials. I’ve done the math, it’s what works best for my set-up.
