How do you get links from non porn sites?

Any ideas on how you get normal non porn sites to link to you?

Would you actually approach some site and ask for a link exchange and hope for the best or more likly a moral telling off… or?

Or would you submit to non porn directories or services?

Re: How do you get links from non porn sites?

I get requests for my mainstream site all the time from porn related product sites … usually I just ignore them. But that’s because if I’m going to add adult links to my mainstream site, they’ll be with my affiliate codes! I’m really not sure how anyone not “in the biz” would handle your requests.

LOL - I know where this question came from…

For starters I’d start with sites that are gay oriented, but non-porn. Like LifeLube.com. They have weekly Woof Wednesday and Friday is for Faeries posts that might be good for link exchanges with your Dicktionary. As you exchange with more people on the border lines like that the pages may be deemed ‘safe enough’ for even more mainstream sites to link to you - especially as you continue to develop the content on those pages to be informative and neutral.

Another avenue to look at is clinical research studies for the gay community - ones that look at sex practices and drug use. You might put public services ads on your site for them in exchange for discrete links back from their site thanking you for your support. Or maybe just start a research study section in your directory with standard reciprocal links. Those sites tend to be University-affiliated sites that would be well trusted by the search engines. I’ve put ads like that on my site, but given the nature of my site they weren’t OK with the reciprocal link - you might meet the threshold for a reciprocal link.

Linkbait is one strategy, but that’ always easier said than done. Getting exclusive photos of celebrities barebacking (like Perez Hilton did a few weeks ago) would definitely do the trick.
