I’m not so sure. Twittering is just group texting and texting isn’t going anywhere. I think it will transform in some way but still be very much around.
Plus I love that Twitter shows up in the SERPS.

Re: How dependent are you on Google?
In 1995 I was blown over by server push. considering how much of a bitch it was to make happen, I figured it would be gone quick. Yeah back in the bad old days I did handcode Perl and PHP. I’m not sure many on here have been kicking it around for sixteen years ten of mine in porn. SN is here to stay, bottom line.
Re: How dependent are you on Google?
Perhaps, but consider this: with so much information available on social networking sites, all we’d need is a few well publicized identity thefts, or a serial killer killing Facebook users, and the whole world could change on a dime.
You can keep arguing with me on this, but I’m going to keep telling you that everything is open to change. I can give you so many examples of business models, companies, and websites that people thought would be around forever. Remember iBill? Did anything ever think they’d go belly up?
Regardless of what we’re talking about, you just can’t say “forever” where the Internet is concerned. If you do, you’ll wake up one morning, check your e-mail, and your jaw will hit your desk.
SN will probably be around for a long time, but whether that means Facebook or Twitter or Kalamazoo Pinto is up for debate. Oprah’s been on a don’t drive and talk on your cell phone kick for a couple of months now, I’d love to know the impact she’s had on cell phone usage and revenues. And I’m betting no one in the phone companies saw her coming.
Nothing stays the same forever.
Re: How dependent are you on Google?
Omg, wtf I haven’t even said shit about you saying ‘twittering’ I’m sorry John Mccain it’s ‘tweeting’. This is a new reality and even debating it makes me feel old, sorry I may be closing in on 40 but not ready to die just yet. You cant act prescient and you really piss me off by discounting the younger gen as you are, I mean f it’s Andy Griffith to the max. The old economy is smashed and we gotta figure out what to do or die. Wake up.
Re: How dependent are you on Google?
I agree with you, but Adam Mason from Blake Mason said earlier (I believe it was in this thread) that most of his models laugh, saying they don’t even buy porn they go to the tube sites. So perhaps spending a lot of time on social networking isn’t going to help very much.
And I’m not being dismissive of the younger generation, I’m simply trying to say that everything on the Internet is transient. Everything changes at the speed of light and becoming too dependent on any one thing, or looking at any one things as the panacea to our problems, is fool hearty.
Re: How dependent are you on Google?
I definitely must agree with Michael here. I don’t even use my full first name on Facebook. I use my initials. I can’t believe the amount of people that use their full names, tell where they live, and even put up pictures of their homes and belongings like they do there. Identity thieves could have a heyday with Facebook. I can see it coming too. Something will go down and yes, things will change in a nanosecond. It’s inevitable.

Google is simply amazing
