How big are Tube clips?

Just trying to figure out what the typical / standard file size for tube clips are. 10 meg, 20 meg, 30?

Is there a standard size at all? What about Resolution / width / height etc?

It depends on your setting. I usually do bit rate of 250 kbps,width 400-450 px and audio at 32-48 kbps. 3 min clip will be around 6-9 MB…I believe there is no need to do better quality if you wanna make surfers buy. I have been testing those clips since 2007 and that setting works best for my traffic.

just so you know, bjorn, that is much lower quality than you have me do on gaydemon. if you want, i’ll make a couple clips that size/quality for you, plus a couple other bitrates so you can judge for yourself.

although we want to make the surfers buy, we also want them to bookmark - the quality you’re talking about would be pretty blurry and artifacted, and that means no one would be coming back.

Well Like I said those clips work best for my traffic…they mightn’t work for others.

I did that one at width 464px around 250kbps. The clip is 2 mins and 30 secs. and it is only 5.7MB

Take a look at http://www.gaydemon.com/blogs/ the clip under the tile ‘Fucking His Face and Ass’ It’s only 1 min but 6MB in size and compared to my clip, the quality isn’t that much different.

When I use it on my blog, I even make the quality worse by making the player stretch the width more…ie the clip is 450px but the player displays it at 500px

Regarding bookmark, my new vs returning is 58.27% : 41.73% …I dont know if that is good but I’m quite happy with the number considering the site that I used a lot of videos is #1 on Google and get lots of new visitors every day.

i don’t usually have to turn the bitrate up that high, but the original of the video wasn’t good quality, so it needed a bit more oomph to keep it from degrading further. good quality videos i usually do at 400kish - a little less if they’re very sharp and clear and a similar size.

I just tried that video at 400kbps and it turned out to be 8.69MB

Thats not too bad for the quality that I get for 2 and a half min video. However I still think 250-300 is enough to be a sample on my site (lol I used to even do 170 when I was cheap). I post like 10 videos a week on all my blogs and burn over 10MEG bandwidth now. :smiley:
