GNU licence for Wikimedia - Free / ok to use?

I can’t quite figure out if Wikimedia (the software behind wikipedia) is free to use, or should I say ok to use on a porn site.

Its under a GNU licence (i think) but say you use it on a commercial site, is it still ok to use? I keep looking around the site but cant find any clear pointers to if I can use it or not.

Any ideas?
