Just wondering what sites people really like design-wise. I looked over the favorite blogs thread and sorta liked the design of east village boys, but I’m generally having a hard time finding porn sites where I like the design. I need to freshen the look of rawtop.com and do major overhauls on my other sites. Problem is I can’t find a designer who has more of a mainstream/hip aesthetic. So many porn sites are overdesigned (for my picky New York tastes). There was a fetish blog I saw a while back that I loved but forgot to bookmark…
I like simple as well. So many porn blogs are way over designed that they look like tgps.
You don’t really need to do too much to your blog. It has a nice simple design. Here is what I would recommend.
Logo change w/ branding tag line.
Play with the CSS a bit. Possible font change and color change. The posts with a lot of text are kinda hard to read.
Bring that right column down a bit so the logo/branding is on it’s own.
If you are going to keep a background, make it so it doesn’t scroll up. It could be part of a good design element that helps in the branding.
When someone asks me what is a porn blog that I like the design of, I show them your blog as I like it’s simplicity and how it all comes together. Personally I would make a few changes, but not that many.

rawtop.com isn’t bad. I’d give it a B+ (A- in some respects, but not overall), but I want to get it to a solid A. (Font color changes are one of the things I don’t like - so I definitely agree with you on that one). And I hate the design of my other sites - that’s where most of the work will be, plus I’m launching some new sites and need them designed… So all in all just looking for inspiration…
There are a few sites where the content is incredible but the design is just “ok”… MenAtPlay (which Michael mentioned recently), BoundGods, ButtMachineBoys… I want a site design that’s as good as the photos are on those sites… The color palette in some of the Bound Gods photos is truly inspirational. Well, one thing I’d encourage you to experiment with is putting more image content on your sidebar. There’s a lot of text linking happening there. On Joe Spunk I’ve been playing around with including photos and I make way more money than I used to off text links or banners. Use photos and graphics to get your surfers digging deeper into your blog or sending them to the sponsors.
Your blog is different than most porn blogs in that there’s already a lot of read. You might find that including more photos and graphics will help balance that out and open up new streams of revenue.
I agree with simplicity, especially when your site is about continuously updated content. If you’re using WP, I highly recommend 2010 Weaver, which gives you a whole lot of options for layout, color schemes, and navigation. It’s got a great WYSIWYG admin section, and has performed beautifully with every plugin I’ve thrown at it.
I finally found a site I think is pretty inspirational… Amped Clothing - http://www.thisisamped.com/ If my sites could look like that I’d love it (or should I say “I’d be totally stoked dude”)…
