ePass raised ATM fees?

Teach me not to check more than once a week. Seems that Epassporte is now going to charge $3 US for each ATM withdrawal. :grrr: I mean really, not even our banks would dare charge that much for cross machine use, let alone for their own machines.

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

I used to be charged $10 + cheating exchange rate :whip:

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

The UK is considerably higher also i believe…

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

yes I noticed that - I guess it depends how frequently and how much you withdraw as to what impact it makes. If you’re using it as a day to day card it may seem a bit of a waste but then I’m not sure who would be using a visa electron as a day to day card when there are ‘normal’ cards. Admitedly, I virtually never use cash regardless.

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

I was charged $5 for machine use at target the other day.

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

It’s still cheaper AND much quicker here in the UK than cashing a US check!

Sounds like they are catching on to what normal banks been doing here for some time. Mine charges me around $8 in fees for withdrawing cash in another country.

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

they’ve been charging me $5 per withdraw for years.

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

That’s inline with what they charge for transfer into a bank account, so it makes sense. EPassorte’s fees are pretty reasonable, I think. A program paid me on PayPal the other day and I was slammed with fees (won’t do that again). I pull out $600 at a time for a $3 fee - so that’s 0.5% - not bad IMHO. Having to track down a lost check (or missing it completely) is a lot more expensive.

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

Yes, less but bigger withdrawals is the key with epassporte.

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

i can only withdraw a maximum of $300 with my epass

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

If you pay a one-time charge of $5 and go through an approval process they’ll bump you to $600.

It’s much quicker but not cheaper.

Epass just like paypal, has a currency conversion fee around 2-3%. (2.5% at Paypal)

If you deposit or cash checks at the bank, you get the real exchange rate. Withdrawing from epass, you lose around 2-3%. If you withdraw $1,000 you lose $20-$30 in exchange rate plus 2x withdrawal fees.

It’s not a huge difference though especially when it costs $15-$20 to deposit an oversea check here. I still prefer to use epass.

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

I’m pretty sure epassporte has been charging me $5 all along anyway. It might be $6 now. LOL. Who knows? Oh well. It does suck, but could be worse I suppose.

It costs me nothing to cash checks, but they take a very long time to clear. Sometimes as long as 3 weeks. That’s frustrating to me.

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

Geez, somehow I feel lucky at having to pay $3US to withdraw payments from Epass.

Don’t know, but my bank charges me $1 if I use a bank machine (atm) that isn’t part of their network, and for US cheques, I don’t get charged anything, plus they are deposited directly into my account, without any waiting.

Now wires on the other hand, is a $10 fee while email transactions (can’t recall the program they call it) are $0 which kind of makes me wonder, just how these banks get away with their fees.

Think I am in the wrong racket, should be a banker, to hell with a porn seller, writer, or even President. lol

Re: ePass raised ATM fees?

well, $3.00 charge started for me a year ago… :whip:
