For example, some person is using the word “GayDemon” as his profile name on Facebook and I would like to have it.
The problem is that from what I understand Facebook doesn’t allow their service for anything adult related, so would it be pointless to try and claim the name anyway as I probably couldn’t use it.
So I already got a reply, very quick… but I don’t understand it.
Hi Bjorn,
At this time we are unable to fulfill your request. When a username is requested for business or promotional needs, we require it to be associated with a Facebook Page. Also note that it is not possible to claim a business username for Facebook groups, events, or personal profiles.
Facebook Pages are distinct from personal profiles. They are optimized for business entities’ needs to communicate, distribute content, engage their fans, and capture new audiences virally through their fans’ recommendations to their friends.
If you have a Page to claim this username, please provide us with the web address (URL) and we will review your request. If you do not already have a Page, simply click on the “Create a page” link under the Sign Up section of www.facebook.com, or visit:
Lol, one of my team set up a BlakeMason facebook profile only to have it deleted because he “wasn’t” BlakeMason. Don’t waste your time… anyone can report abuse and they will delete your account without question!
I was never keen on the idea of using social networking sites to “promote” adult content because kids use them. I still hold that view. It’s an area I don’t feel we, as an industry, should invade or attempt to exploit.

Maybe you should just send them your url, and tell them that the guy is using facebook to promote it
Created a page and they transferred the facebook name over to me today. That’s what I call quick. Very impressive. Myspace who I tried to do the same with was an absolute nightmare.

You can set the age parameters for any business/fan page you create so that under 18’s cannot view them or join them.

That might be true, but protecting your trademark is important. I’ve just setup a simple page and put a age limit of 18+ on it.
