Do you make at least $500/mo. through Tumblr and are an affiliate to our program(s)?
If you do and are, please drop me an email at [email protected] (no Skype, please… I am spinning many plates and email helps me stay on top of things better) … I have something that should make both of us more money. It would involve some extra work on our end, so we can only do it with those already getting a decent income stream from Tumblr.
In other news, it appears as though they will be rolling back from some of those very restrictive changes that practically made us invisible on Tumblr and in search engines. Hopeful that happens!
Re: Are you making at least $500/mo through Tumblr?
I have not use Tumblr I am afraid too with all their new Policy BS. Sooner or later i feel they will get rid of Porn. Now is the time for someone to step in and create a new Tumblr for Porn Adult Stuff. Any Ideas anyone.
Re: Are you making at least $500/mo through Tumblr?
I do not understand how asking for people making money off a free service restricts it to the “big boys.” It only limits it to those that know how to monetize that traffic. It is about skill, not size. As I previously stated, there is a labor cost on our side for each person we do this with. We’re not trying to saturate Tumblr with our content, but instead monetize it. $500 from Tumblr a month is not a “big boy” (usually takes a few months to get to working solo if you do it properly), but instead identifies those that are monetizing Tumblr and not just giving away content with little return. Keep in mind that even at $500/mo we’d still only be getting a sliver of that. It is a special project, not an overall affiliate thing.
Affiliates are already free to use our content on Tumblr as long as it is properly identified. I’m looking for those that are already doing that and making money from it. If you’re already doing that and not yet to $500/mo., drop me an email when you are and we’ll invest the extra labor required to make both of us more money.
Re: Are you making at least $500/mo through Tumblr?
I did try running a free porn host, still do just not doing anything actively with it. Problem is that there isn’t any platform that supports a large amount of blogs on a single system. I use Word Press Multiuser / network install, but it’s very restrictive. For example it doesn’t allow users (hosted bloggers) to post videos from adult tube sites or sponsors… only certain code is allowed in posts. If you copy and pasted for example a hosted video clip from a sponsor then Word Press would edit out the code and you’ll end up with a blank page. This means that the blogs I host end up with main pictures and text.
If anyone is still interested in getting their blog hosted by me then please contact me. It’s just not as feature rich as tumblr or blogspot.
You’re being unrealistic if you think everyone can be catered for. You have to set a limit somewhere. In this case Stunner offers (I assume) help or hosting to affiliates that already are making sales for them which means they can recuperate any costs involved in helping those affilaites. They can’t offer that to everyone as it would mean taking on costs that won’t be recovered. That’s a totally understandable strategy, and something that sponsor programs have done for years, i.e. you offer proven affiliates support and help.
Re: Are you making at least $500/mo through Tumblr?
I totally get and support Jesse’s position, and as someone who isn’t a “big boy” I’m not offended.
When I ran a paysite most of my affiliate sales came from 10% of my affiliates who never asked for anything. Of the other 90%, they sent dribs and drabs, but most of my requests for special this, that, or the other thing came from that pool.
Cebujon, it’s just business. Companies follow the money and they also have limited resources. Sponsors aren’t in the business of teaching affiliates how to sell memberships and get traffic, that’s our job. One small affiliate with lots of questions can suck up a lot of resources that aren’t getting a return.
Re: Are you making at least $500/mo through Tumblr?
I understand what you’re saying and I agree it’s business…It’s just unrealistic for 90% of the bloggers to reach the needed traffic to make money An average blogger can make maybe 25.00 to 100.00 a month but never the level required by sponsors…Like you said…it’s business…It looked like I was personally directing my comment to Stunner but I meant for it to apply to most sponsors
Re: Are you making at least $500/mo through Tumblr?
I’m not sure how to answer that question since there can’t be commercial links on Tumblr. I’ve always seen Tumblr as a traffic source for my other sites, not as a direct money maker in and of itself. In the past I’ve pushed it as much as I can - with links to porn sites when the pic/video is clearly watermarked, but that’s made much more difficult now since you can’t change the “source” - those of us who were in the habit of reblogging, not uploading stuff, got knocked down with that one.
My approach to Tumblr is now very different than it was - it’s much less of a priority these days - a lot more of me posting pics from my own sites.
Re: Are you making at least $500/mo through Tumblr?
I was confused as well. I’m not sure how anyone figures out that they’re getting sales from Tumblr. You post a pic, link it to your blog post, that’s about all you can do. Maybe you pick up a sale, maybe you grab a surfer who likes your site and keeps coming back, maybe they eventually buy something off your site, maybe they don’t ever do so, maybe you’re just getting more tire kickers who are just looking.
Re: Are you making at least $500/mo through Tumblr?
I would say it’s hard to know how much one earns through Tumblr. I haven’t got a clue, since I post links to my galleries and all sales come through Pornosleuth… I really doubt that anyone is tracking sales like that… but I might be wrong.
