I use a service called 2257Safe.com for my compliance reporting. They recently changed their name (to 2257Snap) and changed their address. I had all that information on my site (easy to change) and all my videos (not so easy to change).
So this got me wondering…
Do I need the 2257 statement on each of my videos? Is it enough just to have it on the site?
What’s everyone else doing?

2257 statements are required on all explicit videos. The address should be current as of the time of production. Of course it would be wise to run this past your own attorney.
2257 on a video needs to be accurate when it was made. I remember when someone asked that question of the FBI supervisor in charge of inspections and he said, “Oh don’t worry. We can find you”
You do need the statement either at the beginning or end of each video and link back to the statement from your webpages.
I mentioned this in a similar thread a few months ago: I find it very curious that one of the largest USA based gay porn websites in the world (Sean Cody) does not include a 2257 statement anywhere in their videos. I wish I knew who their attorney was.
That’s really interesting that Sean Cody doesn’t include them. I suppose the statement is aways on the site. Like the FBI guy says, they can find us.
I don’t list my own address because I work from home. And I rent. These reporting services are great for me just so I don’t have to list my own address.
You guys have been a big help. I’m not going to panic about he old videos and I’ll put the new address on the new videos from here on out. I wrote to the “new” 2257snap.com and the guy said it will be working this week. Got my fingers crossed.
Thanks for the advice!
Also, I do not believe a service is compliant with the law unless they hold a copy of your records at their site or, in the alternative, are able to access your records directly from their location.
