English isnt my main language which means I get words wrong sometimes.
Is the word “teen” in gay porn ok to use? For me it means underage guys but someone mentioned to me that it doesnt have to mean that and that it often is 18-19yo.
How do you feel about using the word “teen” for promoting gay twink content?
I like “18 year old” in front. Sometimes I do forget though out of habbit but I always try 5to remember. I was shocked ages ago to find out that high school boys are rarely over 18 as I used that all the time. I dont now lol
I am not a fan of the word teen in porn (str8 or gay).
I have seen many sites that do use the word teen then have a paragraph long legal disclaimer to explain how the words teen, boy, lad, etc. are used.
If you look at the list of âUnacceptable Termsâ (http://www.asacp.org/plain.php?content=terms) at ASACP you will see that a lot of them have teen in them but teen specifically as a stand alone is not mentioned.
As a surfer, I stay away from sites that use the term teen a lot or imply that the models are in high school. While Iâm sure Iâm missing out on some great porn with hot guys, in this age of international law enforcement stings, eager politicians and ISPs reporting even remotely suspected child pornography to local police it isnât worth the risk.
I am a paranoid conspiracy theorist too though soâ¦
the adult industry attorneys i’ve talked to recommends avoiding the word “teen” or associated words like “teenager” if at all possible, so i have.
on the other hand, 18 and 19 year olds ARE teens. still, only 2 of the 7 ages of teens can legally shoot porn, while 5 out of 7 are not legal. of course, in porn usually guys and gals up to 23 or 24 are considered “teens”, so that fleshes it out a bit.
Also, Google and several other search engines will reject the word “teen” when associated with an adult site. The only reason we get away with using the word “boys” is due to the fact that the word is preceded by the word “college” which denotes an over 18 years of age status. Any word, such as girl/boy, teen, teenager, young, etc. that refers to youthful individuals can bring unwanted and in most cases unwarranted attention from government agencies that would rather we didn’t exist as an industry.
As far as I’m concerned teen = underage. I understand that technically speaking guys who are eighteen or nineteen could be considered “teens,” but I think people using the words are trying to snag surfers looking for underage guys.
The reason I was asking was due to me updating my submission rules and I’ve previously had the word “teen” as unacceptable. So I’ll keep that on there.

True, but don’t try using those terms in your Google Adwords.
I do my best to stay away from the terms teen, boy, and even twink. If Google detects these words (among others) on your landing page they will suspend your ad(s).
I find the way our society uses words to be interesting, and frustrating. While teen does imply a younger person, it isn’t exclusively referring to an actual age, but also an emotional state, or inexperience.
Anthony make your own mind up. Its about what your comfortable with. Doesnt really matter what anyone else thinks. Whos to say that they are correct and your not?
Looks like the Jury’s out on this one haha.
I’d suggested it was okay, but perhaps I was wrong.
Maybe it’s because it’s not so long ago that I was a teen :D
Right or wrong it isn’t up to US to decide when in front of a jury! That’s why I suggested staying away from it. Also I should have been more specific in my first response. I was referring to Google Adwords. I love Google, but they are such hypocrites! They randomly choose what words and combinations of words are acceptable and which are not. If you look at the accepted compared to the restricted, there is no rhyme, reason or pattern to their choices. It’s almost like throwing a bunch of trash against the wall and seeing what sticks and what falls off…totally random and unpredictable. I still stick with my original thoughts though. Avoiding the use of words that elude to minors either intentionally or in reference will keep the less approving eyes off of your site and out of your hair.
