I think you hit the nail on the head there. Like Lloyd said, they do actually manually review submissions, but they also have aggressive scripts to filter our the cheaters. I guess you have to do that when you have a lot of submits per day. Actually, I think the straight LL’s care more about the variety in design, so templates can’t be repeated too soon. You have to vary both niches and design.

It really is a matter of habit. I started out submitting to straight LL’s, so seeing the 50+ pics rule kinda baffled me. I still don’t submit to many of the gay LL’s for that reason.

I found my equilibrium, I think, and when I do submit freesites (which hasn’t happened in a while :wink: ), I arrived at a mix of gay and straight LL’s that works for me. They all accept my sites, so I guess I found some median there.

I went and checked the stats for this domain. Keep in mind, I haven’t submitted too many sites over the past 2-3 months, so this is pretty much the stable traffic residue for October so far from my top LL’s. This is pretty interesting, as the gay LL’s are higher up on the list during active submission periods. I guess the straight LL’s are better for long-term traffic and I guess Penisbot does have a lot of gay/curious traffic:

Penisbot ~7500
Gaydemon ~1000
link-o-rama ~1000
gaypervs ~1000

The rest of the LL’s include gay-porn-pig, gayterminal, adult-list, freepixsex.com, and basically whoever you saw on my recip tables. They all were at under 1000.

Straight link lists send a VERY steady flow of traffic over an extended period of time. Link O Rama and Penis Bot always sent me traffic long after my sites were off new.

Why do you think this is? Do they list them differently to gay sites. I’ve had a look and there isn’t anything obvious to me.

perhaps they get fewer sites submitted so you appear on their new list longer or spend longer time at the top of their gay category ?

might also be that the people on the straight list simply visit the archive more but kind of hard to see why they should do that except that perhaps they have to “search” more in the archives for specific gay niche sites that appeal to them… on most straight linklists everything is just put into the gay category where as on gay sites everything is broken down by niche ?

make any sense or am i just rambling ?

I’m certainly no expert on any of this at all. lol But from my experience, I’ve had a much easier time submitting to gay link lists than I have straight ones. I started off with straight porn, and while I still have a few sites still out there that do ok, part of the reason I went predominantly to gay porn is because it was easier to get trades and get listed.

Just my CDN 2 cents worth.

I haven’t submitted small free sites in about 1/2 year, and I did a lot of submitting to straight link lists. The best ones were hoes, penisbot, and link-o-rama for gay sites, lots of traffic, even still. I’d say the other straight link lists are not worth it for gay submissions, ie. not worth the return for all the effort involved.
