I want to install a powerful user-friendly forum on my wordpress site. Something as sophisticated as the forum script for gaydemon. Do any plugins/scripts exist?
Or would i have to install a separate forum script on a subdomain of my site?
If any of you can do this, please let me know if you’re available for paid help.
Re: Member Forum for a Wordpress Site - Possible??
It is supposed to be the integrated social community to work with wordpress. From what I’ve heard, it is pretty robust and handles the job quite nicely. No actual experience with it myself though.
Re: Member Forum for a Wordpress Site - Possible??
I’ve started to look into using Buddy Press, looks good for profiles but I know that the “forum” extension to it is not very good. I’ve seen it in use as a support forum on another site and it’s very basic and doesn’t work very well.
If you want a forum, use vBulletin which I use here.
Re: Member Forum for a Wordpress Site - Possible??
Buddypress is good if you’re looking to build a sort of social networking site. their forum feature (and the forum plugins developed) aren’t the greatest in all honesty. I would install another script on a sub-domain and just link to that.
Re: Member Forum for a Wordpress Site - Possible??
Thanks Bjorn! Using vBulletin would be a good way to go, but it may be a little ‘too powerful’ and a little expensive right now. I need a simple forum with a good member profiles feature. After posting this, I realised that I won’t have much time to moderate a full-blown forum, so having a solid member profile/directory that also has a forum feature is probably what i need right now. Does anyone know of one?
