Re: Are You Planning for the Phoenix Forum? (03/31 - 04/3)
Just a quick addition: we found a place on VRBO that works out to be about $100/night (each) split between two. It’s a 2-bedroom condo with pool, patio, etc. and about 3 blocks from the event. There might be some other places on AirBnB or similar.

I stayed at Don’s Elegante last year. It was definitely…very unique and different LOL. If you see me at the show and ask me over a drink, I’ll give you the full rundown.
This year I’m booked at the Marriot, will be a lot more convenient! After dealing with parking and driving, plus not being able to drink last year I think it’s just much more convenient to be close by.

I just booked my registration at the Phoenix Forum. My offer’s still open on going in half and half for a room - I’d prefer the at the Tempe Mission Palms, but the Marriott is fine, too.

I’ll check that place out. Maybe it would afford the additional bonus of turning my business trip into one like Don Draper’s, when he’d leave the city, go to the West, have a genuine metaphysical experience.

Sadly my convention days are behind me, been to them all over the years except Phoenix, which I would love to attend.
Like many of you I’ve always opted for the cheaper nearby short stays and it always paid off, one thing I always did was check back periodically at the booking sites because the prices always change. I got a tip a couple of years back from a guy I knew who was married to a super saver type of gal, you know a compulsive saver and coupon shopper. He said the trick to getting good Hotel rates was to shop and do searches after midnight, the AM hours had the best deals. Sounded plausible at the time and well worth checking out if perhaps any of you have not made your reservations yet.
Have a great time, looking to hear some good industry stories upon your return.

Imagine if you will, walking in and being greeted by a talking parrot, that quickly learns your name. Your hosts are 2 leather daddies who enjoy Gardening, serving you wine and cheese, telling you stories and of course walking around in the nude. The showers use salt water, so your skin will feel silky smooth after you rinse yourself off. The beds are very comfortable, they obviously spent a lot of money on buying the best. There is a hot tub in the backyard which you can use, but they do like to join you when you soak…in the nude! If you are into older leather daddies, this may be exciting for you; but if you aren’t, it certainly creates for an awkward experience.

I’m sure they are all wheel chair accessible honey.
Re: Are You Planning for the Phoenix Forum? (03/31 - 04/3)
Well, they did have an extensive collection of dolls, which is one of those things I find creepy! Don himself loves to tell stories of how he is the greatest Leather Master that ever lived, and has won numerous competitions. That said, I think they were harmless, I mean it’s not like they tried to rape me or anything. It’s a great value for someone looking for a different kind of vacation, in that they cook you meals, will take you out, and generally just seem to rent the rooms in their house out as a hobby. However, I can’t say I’d stay there again, I prefer to have more privacy for sure!
Re: Are You Planning for the Phoenix Forum? (03/31 - 04/3)
As an affiliate I don’t see the point of attending these anymore. When I first started I would go for the seminars to learn the biz but now I’m not sure what they could teach that I don’t already know. I also found events like this kind of cliquey, where everyone just chats and socializes with people they already know, and as a one man band I didn’t know anyone and didn’t get a vibe that anyone really was interested in meeting me because they were content with their own little groups. I challenge you guys that are going to walk up to anyone who looks like a newbie and chat them up a little, maybe invite them into the cliques.
Re: Are You Planning for the Phoenix Forum? (03/31 - 04/3)
Talking with people and building relationships is the entire point of going. It’s incredibly valuable to meet someone face-to-face, get an impression of them and have them do the same with you. Not that you have to do that every year, but it helps to do it now and then. The seminars are occasionally useful, but Phoenix Forum isn’t about the seminars it’s about talking / socializingâ¦
